Chapter 30 - Rejoining the Galaxy Union
Finally, Belamis and Kugo were back at Galaxy Union Fleet. The officers welcomed back their commander.

There was a special ceremony, in memory of Admiral Yautsin, and other fallen ones.

Belamis and Kugo stood together, and Medora was there with them. They listened, as names of fallen soldiers were read out.

"Lieutenant Loken!"

Belamis heard the name, and remembered the first time they met they fought each other in a bar brawl.

"Admiral Yautsin".

As each was read, Belamis and Kugo saluted.

Then there was another special ceremony, one that give out medals to soldiers who fought brave.

One after another the fighters received medals to honor their bravery.

"Jan Kugo, Purple Heart Medal."

Kugo went up and received the medal.

"Colonel Belamis, now promoted to Major Admiral, receive the award of Silver Star.."

Belamis walked up, in uniforms, and General Kahn, put the badge of Major Admiral on Belamis' uniform, and put the Silver Star medal on her neck.

Belamis saluted.

"You fought bravely.... all the fighters admired you.." General Kahn smiled.

Belamis nodded, and saluted.

The ceremony was over quickly, and the troops all returned to their posts. Belamis went back to Galaxy Warrior. Belamis headed back to her room, and Medora followed.

"Medora.... I will have you sent back to Earth where it is safer.."  Belamis said.

"No..." Medora protested.

Belamis looked at Medora in a gentle manner, and she knelt down, just as she did when she first saw Medora.

"Medora.... I cared a lot about you.... I cannot let you come with me where it's dangerous.....I wish even I can get Kugo away....." Belamis said.

"Belamis, I am the one with Galaxy Energy, and you are the Gariusu giantess. I needed you and you also needed me.." Medora said. "You healed me so that I can talk and see again... how can I leave you out here ?"

Belamis replied, "Because you hold the Galaxy Energy, second in line to Princess Aurora, I cannot let you get into dangers..."

"You protect the ones who hold Galaxy Energy, you should not get into dangers!" Medora replied.

Belamis signed. Then Medora took out the scepter, and said, "I will use this on you!"

"What ?"

"Yes I will! To make you behave!" Medora replied.

"You are kidding!" Belamis said.

"No I am not!" Smiled Medora.

Then suddenly a force field got Belamis subdued.

"Oh man...." Belamis signed.... she did not struggle. "OK....Have it your way..." Belamis replied, rather reluctantly.

Medora smiled mischievously, "Even the great Major Admiral Belamis is under my command!"

Belamis knew Medora meant no harm to her, Medora just cared about her so much.

Belamis signed, and replied, "Just be careful, and stay at your room, please."

Medora smiled, and hugged Belamis, "You are so good...".

Belamis assigned a place for Medora to stay in the Galaxy Warrior, whilst she was in command.

Intelligence reported that they sighted the Golinkor forces in a star system at the edge of the Galaxy.

"I wonder if Krausman is still with the Golinkor forces..." Belamis thought. She released Krausman, and was now having some second thoughts.

"Captain, we are ready to launch..." Lester said.

"OK. Galaxy Warrior, launch and head to where the Golinkor forces were sighted."

The fleet were on its way to meet Golinkor forces.

"Captain, we think the Golinkor forces are in this star system." Greg reported.

Belamis looked at the screen, and pondered.

"We are still trillions of space miles before they could detect us. We have to do a surprise attack." Belamis said. It's clear that the Golinkor forces had superior guns, and each defeat, it was almost always because Belamis was there.

"They would figure out ways... against me..." Belamis thought.

She went to the team of engineers, who were making modifications to the weapon systems of the Galaxy Warrior.

"Major Admiral!" The group saluted.

"How's the progress ?" Belamis asked.

Belamis sent the data of Golinkors' guns back to Galaxy Union and Earth to analyze. They knew they have to improve their weapons a lot.

Dr. Kitty, Dr. Joey and many scientists from the Galaxy met, and got a way to improve. Over the months they crammed through it to fit it to Galaxy Warrior a new weapon, based on the same cosmic energy which only Belamis could harnass.

"It is almost ready, except for charging it fully." The chief engineer said, and Dr. Joey was there too.

"Belamis..... are you ready too ?" Dr. Joey asked.

"I have to..." Belamis replied. Then she looked towards a chamber.

After another 18 hours of flight, the Galaxy Union fleet led by the flagship Galaxy Warrior was nearing the system where Golinkor forces thought to be hiding.

"Golinkor ships!" Lester shouted. There were four of them, heading towards the Galaxy Warrior.

Belamis sat at her commander seat, and looked. "It's time."

Twenty minutes later, Dr. Joey finished her final checking, and said, "The weapon will be charged, and enough to fire at least 2 shots."

She looked towards the chamber - Belamis was inside, with a lot of contacts attached to her.

Back at Earth 3 months ago.

"This weapon theoretically can work.. but there's nothing that can generate the energy to power it!" One scientists declared.

"This weapon is moonshine! We are wasting our time." Another one said.

"I can power it..." It was Belamis entering the room.

"No... Belamis!" Dr. Kitty replied.

"I can power it..." Belamis replied solemnly, looking away from Dr. Kitty.

Dr. Kitty said, "Belamis, don't be silly...."

"My body could accumulate the cosmic energy... it's the matter of how to get it from me..." Belamis said.

"That will kill you!" Dr. Joey replied.

"What's the difference then ?" Belamis said.

Dr. Kitty and Dr. Joey knew. Belamis would die either way. The Golinkor forces outgunned Galaxy Unions weapons.

Dr. Kitty looked at Belamis, and Belamis looked away. Belamis was avoiding eye contact with Dr. Kitty for she would not want Dr. Kitty to worry or concern about her.

Dr. Kitty and Dr. Joey worked round the clock, and came up the chamber, where Belamis was hooked onto.

"This is the first test..." Dr. Joey said to Belamis.

"I have faith in you...." Smiled Belamis.

"Begin now..." Dr. Joey said.

Belamis began drawing the energy from the cosmos intensely, like never before.

"She is experiencing horrid pains..." Dr. Joey monitored Belamis' vitals.

Back at the quarters, Medora startled.

"Belamis!!" She ran out and followed her instinct.

Belamis clutched her teeth....gathering the energy. The chamber was a combination of a system that would collect Belamis' cosmic energy when she released it, then also kept her alive in a kind of life support after she did so. It was designed by Dr. Kitty and Dr. Joey.

Medora followed her instinct and arrived at the site, seeing Belamis in the chamber.

"100% ..." The engineer reported.

"Belamis!" Medora shouted.

"Belamis is doing fine..." Dr. Joey said.

"She's in pain..." Medora replied.

Belamis was concentrating, and did not notice Medora's arrival.

"150% charged!" The engineer reported.

"Belamis....on three, realease. 1..2...3.." Dr. Joey said.

Then Belamis body glowed, the dials, sensors shot up to their maximum reading. Belamis was releasing all the cosmic energy she absorbed, like in her space sword hurricane, but the release was now controlled in the chamber, and all energy released was used to charge the new weapon armed on Galaxy Warrior.

"Belamis!!!" Medora cried.

After a minute, the glow on Belamis subsided.

Dr. Joey immediately released the lock in the chamber, and then started life support. Belamis was set to a lying down position by robotic arms, and another set of cables were attached to her. Belamis was unconscious. The chamber door opened.

Medora ran towards Belamis and looked at her. Belamis face was all pale.

"She is now very weak...." Dr. Joey said.

"Will she die ?" Medora asked.

"Not if we are not attacked in another 6 hours..." Dr. Joey replied. "The life support system is pumping energy to Belamis' body...and she would regain full strength in 6 hours."

Medora looked, and touched Belamis face. Belamis opened her eyes, and she breathed heavily.

"Medora... I told you..." Belamis said.

Medora was crying, and she placed her hands on Belamis chest.
"Belamis.... " Then Galaxy energy began radiated from Medora to Belamis body.

"No...!" Belamis said. She raised her hand, trying to push away Medora.

Dr. Joey pulled Medora away, and said, "No....."

"Please... let me help Belamis!!" Medora pleaded.

The small burst of Galaxy energy strengthened Belamis, Belamis then forced herself up, and said, "I will be OK."

"No...you have to rest..." Dr. Joey demanded.

Medora hugged Belamis and cried.

Belamis hold back her tears, and struggled to stand up, but the she fell back again.

"You are still too weak to move around!" Dr. Joey said.

Dr. Joey re-attach the cables onto Belamis, and started the life support again. Belamis was conscious.

"Belamis...can I stay with you ?" Medora asked.

Belamis looked at her, and nodded.

"Keep me informed of the latest situation..." Belamis talked to the intercom to Lester and the crew in the command room.

In the command room, the crew knew their captain risked herself by powering the weapon on Galaxy Warrior.

In another ship was the worried Kugo. He too knew what Belamis was doing. "Damn..... I cannot be with her now..."

"Kugo..." That's Belamis' voice from the transmitter.

"Belamis!" Kugo yelled in excitement.

"I..I am OK...just resting.." Belamis replied, as she breathed heavily.

"Belamis, are you really OK?" Kugo heard from her voice she was exhausted.

"I told you... I am tough..." Belamis replied.

Kugo eyes welled up in tears, and he replied, "Rest....tough girl!"

He sat by his Star Probe, and was ready.

After 3 hours, Belamis could not wait, and was worried, and she disconnect herself from life support and stood up.

"Belamis..." Medora exclaimed.

"Medora..." Belamis placed her hand on Medora's shoulder. Medora immediately helped supported Belamis as she struggled and walked back to the command room.

Belamis sat herself down, and Medora at beside her.

"Captain...... we would be at the range of the Golinkor forces in another 30 minutes." Lester said.

"All squadrons on high alert, all battleships standby." Belamis commanded.

Belamis remained calm, but inside her she was anxious. She then turned to Medora, "Return to your quarters.."

"Belamis.."

"Please..." Belamis added.

Medora saw in her eyes kindness and care.

"Captain, the enemy battleships!" Lester yelled.

"They were within our range!" Greg said.

Belamis stood up. She was still exhausted, and could hardly walk. "Ready the cosmos energy canon..." Belamis commanded.

"Squadrons team Alpha and Beta, head out and aim our guns....." Belamis commanded. She was not happy that she could not go out and fight alongside with them.

"Captain...you have to stay here and oversee things..." Greg said, knowing what's in Belamis mind.

Belamis nodded.

Kugo was among the squadron.

"Kugo.. I am counting on you.... come back safely!" Belamis said.

"Sure!" Kugo replied playfully, holding up the V-sign.

Belamis smiled. She remembered Kugo giving that V-sign to her, but she gave Kugo the cold turkey treatment then. She chuckled - that was a rare moment of relief for her.

"Kugo... be careful..." Belamis said.

"Sure!"

"Enemies fire!" Greg yelled.

Belamis immediately checked. The four battleships were firing their guns at the squadrons.

"Cover our brothers and sisters!" Belamis commanded.

"The energy level of the enemy forces are increasing!" Dr. Joey was in the science room and monitoring, and she reported immediately.

"All squadrons, pull back!" Belamis commanded.

Then Kugo alone was flying to the enemy battleships.

"No!!!" Belamis yelled.

"Belamis! The canon is not aimed properly! We pull back too quickly, and the target is not acquired! I have to fly closer" Kugo yelled back.

"Kugo.. come back!"  Belamis yelled.

"I will make it... my Star Probe can make it..." Kugo replied.

As Kugo's Star Probe braved the enemies' fire, it got very close to the Golinkor's fleet.

"Target acquired!!!" Greg reported.

"Come back now Kugo!!!" Belamis shouted.

Kugo thought to himself..."The canon is powered by Belamis' own life energy... every it is used, Belamis is risking herself.. I must make sure this shot can take down all Golinkor's fleet!"

He flied even closer, sending  target data back.

"Kugo !! It's enough!" Belamis exclaimed.



"Strong energy racing to us!" Greg yelled.

"Energy shield deployed!" Lester said. The energy shield was advanced, and it took the hit, and only a slight shook.

"Kugo, come back!" Belamis yelled.

The a series of explosion occurred.

"He is not answering!" Greg said.

"No...no!!!" Belamis screamed.

She stormed out and hopped to her jet, and raced out.

In the debris, she saw a damaged Star Probe. Then she saw Kugo.

"Kugo!" Belamis flew towards him, and grabbed him to her jet. Kugo's body was damaged... all his cybernetics were exposed.

Belamis hold back her tears, and flew him back.

"Dr. Joey... Dr. Joey!!" Belamis frantically carried Kugo in her arms and ran ...

"Put him down.." Dr. Joey said.

"He still have life energy... but he was seriously wounded. I would put him the the cyborg recovery chamber now." Dr. Joey said.

Belamis nodded, and was worried.

She ran back to the command room. There were explosions everywhere.

"Our cosmic energy canon is ready!" Lester said.

"Aim it at their main battleship!" Belamis said.

"5..4...3...2...1.. Fire!" Belamis commanded.

A strong blast of energy shot at Golinkor's fleet. Like space sword hurricane, there was a moment of silence as though everything were frozen, then explosions.

After the bright light, all Golinkor's battleships were destroyed.

"Hurray!" The whole command room cheered. Belamis breathed a sign of relief, and ran to see Kugo.

"Kugo...Kugo.." Belamis stood beside the cyborg recovery chamber, and called his name.

Belamis knew it was Kugo who helped targetted the cosmic energy gun, so that all of the battleships were in target and destroyed. Belamis knew that Kugo would want the cosmic energy gun to be used... for her sake.

"He's unconscious. I have sedated him." Dr. Joey said.

"How bad is it ?" Belamis asked worrily.

"Not good..." Dr. Joey replied. "Only Dr. Kitty on Earth has the means to repair him..... his limbs and body were all damaged."

Belamis face was with tears, and she kissed Kugo's forehead.

"He will survive, but we need to take him back to Earth..." Dr. Joey said, "The shuttle will be ready to take off."

Belamis looked, and held Kugo's hand. "Kugo.... "

At the main deck, Belamis watched the shuttle left for Earth. She and Kugo were separated again.
